The Catholic Women Association was established by the first superior General of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus (HHCJ). Mother Mary Gertrude Waturuocha of blessed memory at Saltpond on 22nd June, 1959 when it was first inaugurated in the country. The association shall be called Catholic Women Association alias MBAAKUW.

Catholic Women Association (CWA) was inaugurated on 8th September, 2018 with its membership of 18, led by Opanyin Mrs. Rebecca Quaye, Mrs. Jane Efua Annan and KUWNA Opanyin Philomina Berko and our Archdiocese President, Opanyin Cecilia Yankey.
