St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Corpus Christi Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society was formed following a request made to the OLAM Conference by Mr. Louis Atsiatorme to pay a visit to Corpus Christi Church to address the congregation on activities of the Society and to encourage the formation of a Conference at Corpus Christi Church.

In response to this request, Messrs. Frank Vittor and Steven Quao (OLAM Conference members) came and addressed Parishners on the activities of the Society in September 1997 as part of activities marking the feast day celebration of St. Vincent de Paul.

The Corpus Christi Conference was formed that day with Messrs Louis Atsiatorme and Bartholomew Asare-Kuma, Ms Abigail Frimpong and Mrs. Hannah Danqua-Smith signing up as the founding members.

Works of charity:

The Society has planned a visit to the Parish Priest at Ada Foah, Rev. Fr. AtsuParku, to donate used clothing for distribution to the needy in the Parish’s out stations and communities.

Society members continue their fortnightly group visits to the Sakumono Police cells with food, water, toiletries and detergents till the end of the year. The Society is making a special appeal to Parishners to donate funds so that the visits to the cells could become a weekly activity since government does not support feeding of inmates in Police cells.

Society members will parcel and distribute a package of food and toiletries for 50 Aged, sick and home-bound parishners in the second week of October 2012 as part of the celebration of the feast day of the Patron Saint- St. Vincent de Paul which fell on 27th September.
